The Grand Canyon, a geological masterpiece carved by the mighty Colorado River, stands as an awe-inspiring testament to the Earth's natural wonders. While the summer months draw hordes of visitors eager to witness the canyon in all its sun-soaked glory, but during the winter months the number of visitors decrease drastically. This means we will have more opportunities to capture the beauty of the canyon without the distraction of large crowds. The solitude and tranquility of the winter landscape will enhance your overall experience along with the small group size of the workshop limited to only 5 photographers.Come join along on this Grand Canyon Photography Workshop and reserve your spot today.


Itinerary

We will be shooting sunrise and sunset every day and if the weather is in our favor we can shoot later into each morning. After each morning, depending on how everyone is feeling, we can head back to the hotel to rest and grab some breakfast/brunch. Additionally, we will be shooting different locations each day depending on weather conditions and what areas look the best.

Most importantly create a relaxed, fun and enjoyable atmosphere for an incredible experience. You will feel more confident taking your photography skills to the next level. In the town of Tusayan there are multiple restaurants we can all eat at together for breakfast/brunch and dinner each day.The photography workshop will end on Monday Jan 27th after we shoot sunrise by 9am.Checkout at the hotel is at 11am.

Workshop Information

Professional Photography Instructor-Nick Selway

Small Group Size- 5 people .Keeping the group size small insures that everyone will get my full attention when needed and that we all have plenty of room to photograph certain location in the park and do not feel like we are over crowed.

Booking- The Grand Canyon Photography Workshop will need to be paid in full 90 days prior to Jan 24th so by Oct 24th, 2024 .Deposit Refunds are non refundable after the 90-day mark unless I can find another person to fill your spot.

Cost-Total cost for this tour-$2700 Single Occupancy

Deposit- A 50% Deposit will need to be made at the time of registration which can me made at the bottom of this page.

Hotel- I have reserved a group of rooms in the town of Tusayan,AZ at the newly remolded "Red Feather Lodge" 300 AZ-65,Grand Canyon,AZ 86023.Once you have made your deposit I will then in the followings weeks send you your room conformation number.Check inn at the hotel is at 3:30pm.The hotel is located 1 mile from the South Entrance of the Grand Canyon.




Travel--The nearest airport is the "Flagstaff Pullman Airport "which is a 84 miles/1hr 19min away from the hotel.

-The 2nd closest airport is "Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport" which is 216miles/3hr 29min away from the hotel.

For transportation from airport to hotel and back you will need to rent a vehicle from either one of those airports if you are flying in.

Included-
Park Permit, lodging, guiding, as much laughter as possible and my wealth of photo knowledge making sure I put everyone in the best possible locations for light & compositions to capture their own stunning Grand Canyon Winter images.

Transportation Included- I will be renting a Large Luxury SUV to drive everyone on the workshop to and from the hotel to our shooting locations each day.

Not included-
Meals, transportation from the airport on arrival and back

Difficulty of the Grand Canyon Winter Photography Workshop-
Our shooting areas will give you the most remote breathtaking views to enhance your photography experience. Also make sure you always bring water and some snacks for the day.


Photo Equipment needed-
DSLR, Mirrorless cameras. Solid tripod with either a ballhead. Shutter release setup for long exposures. Recommended lens 16-35mm, 24-70mm,70-200mm. These are the lens I have found to be the best for all around coverage in the areas we will be. Make sure to have extra batteries, SD Cards & a headlamp

Post Processing

I believe in maximizing everyones time in field photographing while on the workshop.After the workshop is over in the following weeks I offer a 1/1 - 2 hr Post processing session for anyone to pick 3-4 images from the trip and we will go over with you our work flow in Lightroom & Photoshop.




Your Grand Canyon Winter Photography Instructor-

NICK SELWAY- Born and raised in Lake Stevens, Washington along the Northern Cascade Mountains, he grew a profound appreciation for the natural world at a young age. He spent his childhood traveling and exploring the Pacific Northwest with his family as his love for mother nature grew. He has been photographing for the last 22 years. He'd lived in Kailua Kona, Big Island of Hawaii for 14 years where he ran 2 photography galleries "Lava Light Galleries" and conducted small group photo tours to the volcano and around the island. After living in Hawaii for 14 years In 2018 Nick embarked on a new journey his lifelong dream by opening his very own photography gallery on July 1st, 2018 located in Breckenridge, CO. He had his gallery there from 2018-2021 but after 4 years he wanted to live closer to family. In late 2022 Nick and his wife Sarah moved to Scottsdale,Arizona .Nick plans to open a new Photography Gallery in the near future located in The Famous Art District in Scottsdale,Arizona.He travels around 175 days a year photographing mother nature’s beauty and teaching a variety of photography workshops year round.
