Experience the San Juan Mountains in Fall
The San Juan Mountains offer some of Colorado’s most spectacular fall scenery, with endless aspen groves, dramatic peaks, mountain streams, and scenic back roads filled with incredible photographic opportunities.
I’ll help you find the best light, create unique compositions, and fine-tune your photography skills in a relaxed, fun environment. With our group limited to just 5 participants, you’ll receive plenty of one-on-one instruction, time to explore and shoot, and of course, plenty of laughs along the way.
After the workshop, I’ll also continue helping you with post-processing and editing, so you can get the most out of the images you captured during our time together.
San Juan Mountains Workshop Schedule
Our adventure begins October 1st at Twin Peaks Lodge & Hot Springs. After check-in, we’ll meet in the lobby at 4:45 PM for introductions and a quick workshop overview before heading out to chase our first Colorado sunset!
Each day includes sunrise and sunset photography, with locations chosen based on weather, conditions, and where the fall colors are looking their best.
Daily Schedule
• 5:15-5:30 AM – Depart for sunrise
• 7:00–11:00 AM – Morning photography & breakfast
• 12:00 PM – Hotel break,naps, hot springs, or explore Ouray
• 4:00 PM – Depart for afternoon & sunset photography
• Evening – Dinner, laughs & optional hot springs
Daily meeting times and locations will be shared in our group chat. Most drives are 30–60 minutes each way in our luxury SUV. We’ll keep things relaxed, fun, and focused on great photography while making the most of Colorado’s incredible fall colors. Our final sunrise shoot is October 5th, wrapping up around 9:00 AM. Hotel checkout is at 11:00 AM.

5 nights of lodging are included in your workshop fee. There is no need to contact the hotel directly—your confirmation reservation number will be provided after registration.The closest airport is Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ), approximately 35 miles from Ouray.

Booking & Cancellation
A 50% deposit is required to reserve your spot, with the remaining balance due 90 days before October 1st.Your deposit becomes non-refundable 90 days prior to the workshop, unless we are able to fill your spot with another participant.
Transportation
All transportation to our photography locations is provided in a spacious luxury SUV, so you can relax and focus on creating incredible images.
What's Not Included
Airfare, meals, and transportation between Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) and the hotel.
Recommended Camera Gear
- Camera — DSLR or mirrorless
- Tripod — Sturdy tripod with ball head or equivalent
- Shutter Release — Recommended for long exposures
- 16–35mm — Wide-angle landscapes
- 24–70mm — Versatile all-around coverage
- 70–200mm — Landscapes, details & compressed compositions
- 100–400mm — Distant landscapes & wildlife
- Macro Lens — Optional for close-up details
These lenses provide excellent coverage for the locations we’ll photograph, but you do not need to bring them all. Bring the gear you have and are most comfortable using. Don’t forget extra batteries and plenty of memory cards!

1-on-1 Post-Processing Session
Your workshop experience continues after Colorado. You’ll receive a private 2-hour editing session where we’ll work through 3–4 of your favorite images together in Lightroom and Photoshop. We’ll cover my complete post-processing workflow and help you bring the most out of the images you captured during the workshop.
